Dr. Steve Perlman Granted AGD Humanitarian Award

Adjunct Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and alum Steve Perlman PEDO 76 received the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Humanitarian Award at the 2009 AGD Annual Meeting in July.
The AGD Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals who are committed to enhancing the image of general dentistry through continuous delivery of quality dental care and through leadership in areas of civic involvement.
Dr. Perlman was selected for this award based on his commitment to civic involvement as Senior Global Clinical Advisor of Special Olympics’ Healthy Athletes® Special Smiles®. The AGD Foundation and the AGD are partnering with Healthy Athletes® Special Smiles® to provide training to a vast number of general dentists. An estimated 600 plus AGD members have signed up to be included on the provider list given to Special Olympics athletes.
"I am honored to be recognized by the Academy of General Dentistry as the recipient of the Humanitarian Award," said Dr. Perlman in a statement issued by the AGD. "I look forward to continuing my service as an advocate for the cause of general dentistry."
"Dr. Steve Perlman is very deserving of this award," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "His unwavering commitment to providing oral health care to medically underserved and vulnerable populations makes him a role model for the GSDM community. This award further demonstrates his position as a leader in the field."
