Newly Formed Dean’s Advisory Board Gathers for the First Time

Dean Hutter assembled his newly formed Dean’s Advisory Board for their first meeting on Monday, September 22. The Board was joined by President Robert A. Brown and Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations Scott Nichols and had a productive working session which was assisted by the firm of Graham-Pelton, nationally recognized experts in development and board development. Graham-Pelton will facilitate the preparation for both this board reorganization and the challenges that lay ahead for the School and the University.

“I determined that I need a working board which will take an active role in the conduct of this School, a board that will commit to my vision and actively engage in manifesting my vision for this great institution,” said Dean Hutter. “Each and every one of these members has been selected because they will be instrumental to the successful realization of my vision for the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, which is to become the premier center of excellence of oral health education, research, and patient care in this nation in the next five years.”

At the inaugural meeting last Monday, the Board began the work preparing for this challenge. The Dean’s Advisory Board will now be meeting three times a year, establishing concrete goals and measurable outcomes, and translating discussion into action so that it is well positioned to support Dean Hutter and BUGSDM.

Members of the board include Mr. Manaf Afyouni, Mr. Robert Bennett, Dr. Daniel S. Budasoff, Dr. Marvin F. Cook, Dr. Dominick DePaola, Mr. Dexter A. Dodge, Dr. David Federick, Mrs. Joyce Fredkin, Dr. Robert Ibsen, Mr. Stefan Kaltenbach, Dr. Jonathan B. Levine, Dr. Ernesto Muller, Mr. David I. Nager, Dr. Jeanne C. Sinkford, Mr. Marshall M.
