BUSNDA Members Attend National Convention

Kimberly Haynes DMD 09 and Joseph Ayitey-Adjin DMD 09, both members of the BU chapter of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA), attended the SNDA National Convention in Detroit Michigan, from July 25 – 28. The convention allowed Haynes and Ayitey-Adjin to meet SNDA members from other chapters and to learn from some of the knowledgeable National Dental Association (NDA) representatives in attendance.
The convention included a business session where members of each SNDA chapter presented their chapter reports detailing highlights and events from the past year. "We’re one of the smaller SNDA chapters," said Ayitey-Adjin. "But we were able to show what a tremendous amount of work we’ve done this past year, with some of our highlights being the Child Identification Program (CHIP) and the Faculty vs. Students basketball game."
Both Haynes and Ayitey-Adjin were also pleased to be able to be a part of the oral cancer walk that took place in downtown Detroit as part of the convention to raise money and awareness for oral cancer.
"Numerous events took place during the convention, but one of the most memorable was the walk," said Ayitey-Adjin. "Many people around the city joined in and I was proud to know that SNDA made a difference in the city of Detroit."
Both students were grateful to Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) for granting them the opportunity to attend the conference this year. They hope the knowledge and experience they shared with their chapter will help it grow and prosper for years to come.
