Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska Solicited For Input on NIH Peer Review System

Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska was among twenty study section chairs selected to a meet with Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), on May 28 at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

The goal of the meeting was to brief and obtain the input of the study section chairs on the enhancement of the NIH peer review system. The meeting, co-chaired by Drs. Lawrence Tabak, Director of the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research and Jeremy Berg, Director of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, assessed and refined the final initiatives that were made public on June 6.

“This meeting was the final step in a year-long process that engaged the scientific community to improve the peer review system for both the reviewers and the applicants," said Dr. Kukuruzinska. "The proposed changes will make the process better and more efficient.”
