Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery David Cottrell was installed as the 25th President of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (MSOMS) at the Annual Meeting held at the Sheraton Needham Hotel on May 8.
MSOMS is recognized as the official state component society of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois. Dr. Cottrell is one of three Delegates who represent Massachusetts in the American Association House of Delegates.
During his two-year term as President of the MSOMS, Dr. Cottrell hopes to increase membership involvement, strengthen relationships with sister organizations, and promote education on a local and national level.
“It is an honor to be asked to serve the profession of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery," said Dr. Cottrell. "My hope is to set an example for younger practitioners, residents, and students that inspires them to get involved in organized dentistry.”
"Dr. Cottrell is highly deserving of this accolade," said Dean ad interim Dr. Jeffrey Hutter. "His dedication to the profession is an inspiration to all of us at BUGSDM."
