Alumni Gather at Four Seasons Reception

The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco filled with about 100 BUGSDM alumni and friends September 28 for the annual reception during the American Dental Association annual session.

This year the school welcomed to the event eight students who have applied to BUGSDM for fall 2008, giving them an early welcome to our school’s family.

"These events are always such a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, former faculty members, and friends from the BUGSDM community," said Senior Associate Dean Jeffrey Hutter in welcoming guests.

The event was hosted by Senior Associate Dean Jeffrey Hutter and his wife Kathy, and Alumni Board President Joseph Calabrese DMD 91 AEGD 92 and his wife Michele.

Hutter shared with attendees news of the school’s recent accomplishments, including:

  • alumni-funded renovations to the orthodontic patient treatment center
  • the establishment of the Richard Forcucci Memorial Fund in honor of late alumni board member Richard Forcucci DMD 87
  • the establishment of the Spencer N. Frankl Scholarship
  • a Board of Visitors dinner in September honoring Dean Frankl for his dedication to the school
  • $175,000 raised by the Endodontic Alumni Association for the Herbert Schilder Scholarship in Endodontics
  • renovations to the school’s cafeteria
  • $233,330 in donations to the school’s annual fund, which has seen an impressive increase in giving
  • planned facility improvements to better students’ education and quality of life, such as an Implantology Center, third-floor classroom upgrades, a new Dental Health Center, and a student lounge

"I want to ensure that our alumni are engaged and connected to our school, and I welcome your input," he said.

Dr. Calabrese proudly reported on the success of the BUGSDM alumni he meets worldwide, attributing this fact to their excellent dental education. He also thanked Dr. Hutter and the administration for the opportunity to connect with alumni at events such as the reception, and said it is an honor to represent the school’s alumni.
