Dougherty, Diaz, and Cunnion honored for service

“People are our most important asset,” said Dean Frankl in describing how BUSDM will tackle future challenges.

As testament to this—and to BUSDM’s high regard for its staff and faculty—Dean Frankl presented three awards to outstanding members of the BUSDM community.

For her hard work and unflappable positivity, Diane Dougherty, administrative coordinator, received the Henry M. Goldman Award for Distinguished Service. The unofficial “mayor of Robinson building,” Dougherty has worked at BUSDM since 1997 and manages multiple aspects of the EXCEL program, the Student Dental Plan, GME, and the Geriatric Dentistry Program.

The staff award for Community Excellence went to Marta Diaz, patient coordinator at the first-floor desk in the dental school. Diaz began working at BUSDM nearly ten years ago, when she first became known for her outstanding customer service skills, multitasking abilities, and willingness to go the extra mile for coworkers and patients alike.

Dr. Dara Cunnion, assistant professor of general dentistry and director of the Predoctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program, was the faculty recipient of the Community Award for Customer Service.

“Dr. Cunnion is an exceptionally bright, diligent, positive, and energetic individual who serves as a role model for the entire dental school community,” said Dean Frankl before presenting the award. “She is an inspiration to those around her.”
