Janket Grant to Investigate Saliva as Mortality Predictor in Heart Disease

The American Heart Association (AHA) has awarded Dr. Sok-Ja Janket a Scientist Development Grant to study salivary lysozyme as a predictor for cardiovascular mortality. The award of $221,100, to be disbursed over four years, is part of an AHA program to support promising beginning scientists in their progress toward becoming successful independent investigators.
Three hundred ninety-nine applications were received by the AHA for this grant; the association funded 96 (24%).
Janket is research assistant professor of general dentistry/periodontology & oral biology.
