Congratulations, Carolyn Wehler!

Carolyn Wehler, assistant professor, project manager, and clinical examiner, received the Dental Hygienist of the Year award from Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association (MDHA) at the organization’s annual meeting September 9, 2006, in Natick.

"It was a great honor to receive this award from my peers," Wehler says. "I’ve worked with so many wonderful hygienists through the years that it is truly humbling to be honored by the group that represents this dynamic and exciting profession."

The award recipient must have practiced dental hygiene and have been a member of MDHA for at least ten years, have five years’ experience as an officer or committee member on the state level, have contributed significantly to the dental hygiene profession, and have served as a role model for the organization’s newer members.

Wehler serves as MDHA’s chair of the Council on Education and Research and was previously the editor of publications. She is on the American Dental Hygienists’ Association’s (ADHA) Council on Regulation and Practice and will serve next year on ADHA’s Council on Public Health.

She joined BUSDM nearly ten years ago as part of the then newly created Department of Health Policy and Health Services Research.
