BUSDM Faculty Present at New York Academy of Sciences Meeting

The New York Academy of Sciences welcomed Dr. Frank Oppenheim, chair of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Biology; Dr. Eva Helmerhorst, assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Biology; and Dr. Walter Siqueira, postdoctoral fellow, to present at the meeting Oral-based Diagnostics October 10-13 at Emerald Pointe Resort in Georgia.

Dr. Oppenheim was invited to speak on "Salivary Protein Characterization: From Classical Biochemical Approaches to Proteomics."

Dr. Helmerhorst presented a poster on "The Impact of Histatin Proteolysis on its Functions: Implications for Salivary Diagnostics" and Dr. Siqueira presented a poster on "Proteomics of the Acquired Enamel Pellicle and its Potential Applications in Oral Diagnostics."
