Omakshi Agiwal

My research interests are focused on drivers of mass and energy transport in the magnetospheres and upper atmospheres of giant planets in our solar system. I have developed “SMITE”, the Saturn Model of Ionospheric Transport and Electrodynamics, to investigate non-auroral drivers of upper atmospheric dynamics and magnetosphere-ionosphere-ring coupling at Saturn, and am supporting the adaptation of this model to Jupiter and the Ice Giants. In both gas giant systems, I use a synthesis of models, spacecraft data, and ground-based measurements to investigate the drivers of variability within these systems.
