John Lewis, U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s Fifth District, delivered the Boston University’s 145th Commencement Address during the ceremony. Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto, mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, delivered the Baccalaureate Address earlier in the day at Marsh Chapel. Both received honorary degrees.
Others who received honorary degrees are:Vibha Bakshi, filmmaker and journalist;Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; andZhang Yimou, noted actor, director, producer, and filmmaker.
