Technology Support

IS&T’s Learning & Event Technology Services (LETS) provides support of installed equipment in classrooms scheduled by the University Registrar. This fall, our services are expanded to support all LfA enabled classrooms, at various levels. Your local IT support is still active and engaged in your support. However, if you are in a classroom and experience a technology emergency, call the LETS Hotline at 617-353-3227 (dial 3-3227 from any campus phone) and our Command Center will ensure your issue is escalated to the closest and fastest support personnel.

(CRC & Fenway) Faculty/Instructor Bluetooth Headphone Pick-up – Fall 2020

BU has approved the purchase of Bluetooth headphones for faculty and instructors who are teaching using their own laptops for classes with some level of in-person meetings this fall. The headphones cannot be used in conjunction with in-room computers because Bluetooth is not enabled by design. In-room computers are the preferred method of connection across BUMC and in some spaces on the Charles River and Fenway campuses.  Audio is amplified using alternate technology in classrooms utilizing an in-room computer.

The headphones amplify your voice for the remote students and your class recording. There are also microphones in the classrooms that will carry your voice in the space for in-class students.

Faculty can pick up their headphones at the IT Help Center lobby in west campus at 179 Amory St., Brookline, across Amory St. from Target and across Commonwealth Ave. from the College of Fine Arts. Additional locations may be offered as possible and will be posted here.

We recommend first pairing your headphones in your home or office to make selection in the classrooms easier and to avoid pairing with any different devices that may be active in the room.

Early Semester Support

Through the end of the third week of classes, LETS will respond to calls to classrooms to assist and ensure that faculty and their teaching fellows are familiar with the installed equipment in the classroom including LfA technology. We will provide this option to the best of our ability this fall as we adjust to the sharp increase in support locations.

    Year-round Support

    LETS responds immediately to technology emergencies in the classroom throughout the year. LETS provides training and instruction to all faculty and teaching fellows on how to use the installed classroom technology equipment. You can schedule a consultation with a Learning & Event Technology Specialist throughout the year. LETS will continue to work on the development of instructional materials to be made available through our website to allow for self-service and answers to Frequently Asked Questions. If you find you need supplemental equipment in your classroom, equipment loans are available to be picked up, free of charge, for faculty use. Please contact us for more information.
