Religious & Spiritual Student Organizations
All student groups listed here are registered with Religious Life and the Student Activities Office. If a group is not on this list, they are not an approved BU student group, even if they are meeting on BU’s campus. All religious life groups are open to all students at the university. In compliance with Title IX of the U.S. Higher Education Amendments of 1972, “There shall be no restrictions on membership based on race, religion, nationality, gender, handicap, political conviction, or sexual orientation.”
We strongly recommend that students seek religious and spiritual community through approved BU student groups. High pressure religious organizations (cults) do approach students on and near the BU campus. They also contact students directly through social media, including Instagram Direct Message. These interactions may seem harmless at first, but often involve high-pressure and manipulative recruitment tactics which over time can affect a person’s emotional, psychological, and physical well being. For more information visit our Spiritual Support & Resources Page.
Campus Ministers
A Campus Minister is called by a student group to serve members of their community and is not compensated by BU. All Campus Ministers listed here have gone through an approval process and been background checked by Boston University, Religious Life.
If you are a religious leader called by a student group who is seeking recognition as a BU campus minister, please email the Director of Marsh Chapel & Religious Life at hrf@bu.edu to begin the approval process.
