Service of Celebration

On November 16th, 2026, Marsh Chapel was honored to welcome The Rev. Raphael Warnock, PhD, Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, and United State Senator from Georgia as our guest preacher for our Service of Celebration. Following the service there was a book signing with the Reverend Warnock. While we do not have any additional signed copies, we do highly recommend checking out each of his incredible works; A Way Out of No Way (2022), Put Your Shoes On & Get Ready! (2023), and We’re in This Together: Leo’s Lunch Box (2025).

The Service of Celebration and corresponding events truly exceeded our expectations. We welcomed more than 400 attendees to this historic service and were blessed by the presence of many incredible BU alumni and leaders including The Rev. Dr. Lawrence Carter, Dean of the MLK Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. The events were covered by BU Today in an article titled “Georgia US Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock Preaches Against Inequality at Marsh Chapel 75th Anniversary Service.”

Boston University President, Dr. Melissa Gilliam was present for our luncheon where she offered some encouraging and inspiring words about the legacy of Marsh Chapel and the past, present, and future of Boston University.
