Since its dedication in 1950, Marsh Chapel has impacted the lives of many in a variety of ways. Generations of inspirational sermons, archival records and photographs of historic events, recordings of uplifting musical performances, and the building’s own architecture capture 75 years of transformative experience. But our story is incomplete without the living record of those who call Marsh their own. To celebrate our present, commemorate our past, and inspire our future, we invite you to share your own Marsh history. Help us answer the question, “What is Marsh Chapel?” and tell us how the physical space, and the community of people within it, has impacted your life.

Tell Your Story

To participate, we encourage you to submit a video, record audio, or send us a written remembrance. Please adhere to the following template when crafting your submission:

  1. Share your name: “My name is [First] [Last].”
  2. Establish your connection: “I am a [student, alum, current/former chapter member, musician, podcast listener, livestream viewer, married at Marsh, etc.]”
  3. In a few words, answer “What is Marsh Chapel to you?”: “Marsh Chapel is…”
  4. Continue to tell your story and share a piece of your own Marsh history!

If you prefer to submit an audio recording, please call 617-396-7426 and leave a voicemail. We recommend that you prepare what you would like to say before calling. Please remember to state your name at the beginning of your message and speak clearly so that your voice can be heard and understood.

You may mail a personal story to us if needed. Your words may be read aloud by a member of our staff for use in the final collection. Please address the envelope as shown below:
