Title: Neurophysiological mechanisms of phrase structure building during language comprehension
Abstract:
I use human intracranial recordings and direct stimulation to study the nature of the building of phrase structure representations in the brain as a sentence unfolds. Results show a build-up of neural activity during phrases followed by a compression at phrase boundaries that can be interfered with using stimulation.
