Two Boston University College of Arts & Sciences professors are the first researchers to attempt to predict where certain species or groups of soil microbes live around the world. Jennifer Bhatnagar, soil microbiologist and assistant professor of Biology, and Michael Dietze, professor of Earth and Environment, found that it is possible to accurately predict the abundance of different species of soil microbes in different parts of the world. The team recently published their findings in a new paper titled “Soil microbiome predictability increases with spatial and taxonomic scale” in Nature Ecology & Evolution
