Statistics Software available on BU Scientific Computing Facilities Systems
In support of BU’s research community, the IS&T Scientific Computing and Visualization (SCV) group provides statistics software for use on its systems, as well as training and consulting on the use of this software.
SCV currently deploys and maintains SAS, Stata, and R on its Linux clusters, and is investigating the possibility of installing SPSS on these machines as well.
For additional information about these services, visit the SCV Statistics Software page, where you will find help with accessing and running these packages, in addition to statistical programming support. While SCV does not provide statistical consulting (such as help with experimental design, appropriate tests, etc.), statistics programming help is available at SCV’s Scientific Consulting page and/or by e-mail to help@scv.bu.edu.
Statistics Software Training
Each semester SCV offers a series of live tutorials, including the following related to statistics software:
- Introduction to R
- Graphics in R
- Programming in R
- R – C/C++ Programming
- Introduction to SPSS
- Introduction to SAS
Please visit the SCV Tutorials page for more information, as well as online tutorials and slides from past presentations. The Tutorial Schedule lists the most current live offerings.
For researchers who wish to use these resources on SCV-managed Linux clusters (e.g., Katana), but who do not currently have accounts, please visit the SCF Project Request page.
For Windows and Mac users, please visit the IS&T Statistical Software page for information on SAS, SPSS, and JMP for these two platforms.
For additional information about statistical software or scientific computing at BU, contact SCV by email at help@scv.bu.edu.
