It’s still unknown how much of a role data played in the 2016 presidential election, and data’s impact will only get bigger in the lead up to the 2020 campaign. CAS professors of political science and computer science are working together to research what data—and, more importantly, insight into psychological motivations—can tell us about political processes and outcomes. One group looked closely at housing and development policies on a municipal level, while another worked to show how data can show what candidates people prefer and why.
