GRS Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan Request Form for 2026-2027

If you wish to apply for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, complete this form. You are eligible to participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program if you are: (1) A U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen; (2) Enrolled in a degree program on at least a half-time basis (or considered at least half-time by your School/College) and credits count towards your degree or Certified Full-time; (3) Making satisfactory academic progress: (4) Do not have an outstanding balance from a prior period of enrollment at Boston University; and (5) Have not reached your aggregate lifetime loan limit. Maximum Unsubsidized Loan is $20,500 per academic year. Eligibility may be less than $20,500 depending your total cost of attendance minus any financial aid received (including all University aid and outside funding) and depending on your enrollment level. Part-time students registered at least half-time (6 or more credits per semester) will be eligible for the Federal Unsubsidized Loan based on the Federal Loan Schedule of Reductions (SOR).
