On Wednesday, April 6, Boston University held its third annual Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising event to support BU. Members of the CAS community helped raise more than $110,000 for the College, according to the BU Giving Day website—$34,107 of which came from faculty and staff.
In total, 205 faculty and staff donated to our campaign, and were joined by 268 alumni, 84 parents, 54 students, and a number of CAS friends. In addition to the $110,832 raised by donors, we received a bonus of $10,000 from the Giving Day team. This is a substantial increase from last year’s gifts, which totaled $66,000.
For the first time, Dean Cudd also offered a special challenge for CAS departments, thanks to her own generous contribution: The three CAS departments with the most donors, most dollars raised, and highest percentage of faculty and staff donors received $1,000 each on Giving Day. The winners were:
- Most donors: Biology (68)
- Most dollars raised: Earth & Environment ($17,003)
- Highest participation rate by faculty and staff: Earth & Environment
Thanks to all of your support, Giving Day was a huge success for CAS.
