Sixteen students from Boston-area high schools are engaged in a 3D Game Programming course hosted by the Computer Science Department this spring semester. The course meets two afternoons after school each week at 111 Cummington Street. This is an exciting new development in the department’s outreach to cultivate and support area high school students’ interest in computer science.
The launch of this new outreach activity was a team effort, with help from:
- Prof. Tim Hickey from Brandeis is the lead instructor this semester — he is the creator of the course
- Cynthia Brosman of BU Lernet is the lead for outreach to area schools and logistics
- BU CS doctoral student Ajjen Joshi is serving as a teaching assistant
- Paul Staffer, Joe Szep, and Eric Missimer took care of setting the machines up and installing the software
- Prof. Ibrahim Matta is helping with the course as well, with an aim towards teaching it in the future
