Description
The Staff Institute is a staff development program that gives CAS Staff Members the opportunity to grow, learn, and act around topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This program, which was created in Fall 2021, gives participants the tools and structure to create change in their respective departments and programs.
Objectives
- Establish a diversity, equity, and inclusion foundation
- Being able to define and articulate key concepts including diversity, equity, inclusion, climate, justice, bias, etc.
- Develop leadership skills
- Gaining the skills to integrate D&I into your work, initiate & facilitate conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and develop relevant initiatives in your own program/ department.
- Understand campus resources related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Annual program timeline:
Summer: Information sessions
Early Fall: Orientation session
October-March: Participants attend a series of developmental workshops and programs
Fall: Project planning phase one
Spring: Project planning phase two
April: Program completion recognition ceremony
