Eva Lewis was a teacher in Ohio before coming to Boston for BU CFA's grad program.
She fell in love with painting during her grad program at CFA.
Her approach to painting starts with a sketch, where she explores putting woman in different [...]spaces and how those spaces tell the story of being a woman.
After she has an idea from her sketch of how the painting would look, she begins to mix paint for colors that creates the best contrast. Part of her style, is painting while simultaneously removing it.
Her body of work is her way of defying paintings from the Renaissance period. A time when women were objectified, and was seen as property.
Eva's paintings are driven by her desire to see more woman represented in a positive way.
