Bostonia is published in print three times a year and updated weekly on the web.
In November, we invited members of the BU community to show their Terrier pride by submitting photos via the hashtag #oneBU that illustrated what the University meant to them. The response was astonishing. In one week’s time, 676 people sent photos via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Weibo.
The images captured the Charles River, Marsh Chapel, Bay State Road, and Nickerson Field. There were stunning photos of sunrises and sunsets. Students from BU Study Abroad submitted photos from Australia and Ecuador.
Our thanks to our three judges, Toni Pepe Dan, a lecturer in the College of Fine Arts School of Visual Arts; Micha Sabovik, College of Communication assistant dean of student services; and Stephen Haines, a COM lecturer. They had the unenviable task of having to select three top winners. Taking third place in the contest was Ben Kvisler (SMG’15). Second place honors went to Alex Guan (CAS’17). And the first place prize was awarded to Ayako Watanabe (SMG’15). (Winners each received an Amazon gift card).
The photos have already garnered more than 83,000 Facebook impressions, over 1,000 visits on Tumblr, and nearly 800 mentions on Instagram. For those of you who haven’t yet seen them, we’ve put a sampling below for your enjoyment. View all of the submissions here.
