Gigi Gioscia

Summer Recruitment Team

Hometown: Halifax, Massachusetts

Bio: Hi! I’m Gigi, and I’m a senior majoring in Physics here at BU. I’ve been heavily involved in BU Bands since my freshman year, from being in Marching Band to Pep Band to Scarlet Band, and I am happy to say that it has been the defining experience of my college career in the best way possible. I have played the flute since fourth grade and feel so lucky that I get to continue to play it alongside a bunch of really cool people in college! I am also a member of BU’s Kappa Kappa Psi chapter, which is a co-ed honorary band service fraternity that does service for the band program, which is really fun! You would be correct to say that I do a lot of band all the time, but I do like other things too, such as particle physics (women in STEM!), tap dancing, my 16 pet chickens, and dyeing my hair fun colors (not pictured here…).

What is your favorite BU Bands performance that you’ve been a part of? Marching band has always had a special place in my heart since high school, therefore my favorite BU Bands performance so far would have to be doing our “From BU to Broadway” show at the 2021 Collegiate Marching Band Festival in Allentown, PA. Not only was the performance surrounded by the fun of traveling with the band on the overnight Pennsylvania trip, but we got to play in a stadium for a really big crowd of college marching band fans. Though it was early in the season, our performance was truly electric and entertaining and so, so much fun to perform!
