About the Henry Luce Foundation
Since its first grant of $1,500 to Yenching University in 1936, the Luce Foundation’s grantmaking has included Asia as a programmatic focus.  At present, the broad goals of its Asia Program are to encourage the development of expertise, capacity and resources on East and Southeast Asia, and to foster scholarly and cultural exchange between the United States and Asia.  Grants typically support three areas: Asia-focused teaching and research in higher education; policy projects relevant to U.S.-Asia relations; and broader public education about Asia.
