It’s week two of the semester, Terriers, and while classes are ramping up, so is the weekend calendar. From a world-premiere play to Boston University’s annual Moonlight Ball to a community barbecue and more, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your weekend on campus.
The Ceremony
Produced by CHUANG Stage in partnership with the BU School of Theatre and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, The Ceremony kicks off its world premiere run this week at the Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre. The story, part of a larger body of work by playwright Mfoniso Udofia, unites Nigerian and Nepali culture throughout the generations. Tickets are on a “Pay-As-You-Are” basis, inviting audiences to support arts accessibility as they are able to.

16th Annual Moonlight Ball
One of BU’s favorite fall traditions is back: the Moonlight Ball celebrates the lunar Mid-Autumn Festival with student performances, food and drink, music, a photo booth, and more. The ball is hosted by the BU Asian Student Union, Taiwanese American Student Association, Vietnamese Student Association, and Chinese Student Association,

2025 Springboard Series
BU School of Theatre’s New Play Initiative presents public readings of theatrical works in progress, written and performed by our own Terriers. Each staged reading features a short rehearsal period, a live table read, and a feedback session with the playwright and cast.

2025 Boston Local Food Festival
Love local food, and plenty of it? Head to the Rose Kennedy Greenway for one of the region’s biggest one-day food festivals. The day features nearly 100 vendors serving cuisines from around the world, free samples, chef demos, a Seafood Throwdown competition, and more. It’s a can’t-miss celebration of New England’s food culture.
Sunday, September 14, 11 am to 5 pm, Rose Kennedy Greenway, 191 Atlantic Ave., Boston. Admission is free and tickets are not required.
Welcome Back BBQ
Kick off the semester with burgers, hot dogs, veggie options, and community at Marsh Chapel’s annual Welcome Back BBQ. This campus tradition brings together students, faculty, and staff for an afternoon of food and community. In case of rain, the event moves indoors to Marsh Chapel, lower level.

BU vs. Boston College Field Hockey
Cheer on the BU field hockey team as the Terriers face longtime rival Boston College at New Balance Field. Admission is free, and if the bleachers fill up, you can still catch the action streaming live on ESPN+.
