Boston Has New Late-Night Food Options—and They’re on Wheels

Food trucks will serve Caribbean fusion, tacos, and lobster rolls until 3 am at hot spots around the city

Boston is often criticized by those of us who are out late, as many restaurants and bars pack up operations long before the city’s mandated 2 am closing time. Fortunately, Mayor Wu’s office is trying to change that. 

To cater to the late-night crowd—like night shift workers and bar hoppers—close to a dozen food trucks will now be parked in seven high-traffic areas and operate until 3 am: Northeastern University, Fenway Park, the Theater District, the Roadrunner concert venue, Boston Medical Center, Faneuil Hall, and Copley Square (at the corner of Boylston and Clarendon streets). The locations are designed to cater to firefighters, doctors and nurses, as well as restaurant owners, servers, and DJs, the Mayor’s office says. 

With over 40 trucks entering the lottery to participate, the program is starting with 10, on a rotation. The trucks will be in different spots, depending on the night, and offer a variety of cuisine, ranging from lobster rolls to burritos.

Augusta’s Chicken on the Road

With famous chicken bites, chicken subs, and fries, this food truck has been around for over 10 years. Dip your grub into one of their 13 sauces, which include chipotle mayo, cordon bleu, garlic parmesan, or marinara. Find hours here.
