The year began with a government shutdown and drew to a close with the start of another. In between, the 12 months saw a nationwide anti-gun movement, led by student survivors from the Parkland, Florida, school massacre; a continuing immigration crisis that included children forcibly being separated from their parents at the US/Mexico border; and an economy that started out strong and ended with a whimper.
But the news wasn’t all bad. Closer to home, 2018 marked the year that Boston University acquired Wheelock College, creating a new campus and a new school, Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Phase two of the massive Comm Ave bridge replacement concluded in August (and on time), and the fall marked the announcement of plans for a dramatic new Data Sciences Center.
We’ve pulled together nearly three dozen photos that ran on BU Today over the past year chronicling many of the highlights—so take a look as we say goodbye to 2018.
