Buick Street Traffic Reduced to One Lane
Move to accommodate underground steam pipe project

Traffic on Buick Street will be reduced to one lane from Friday, September 9, through Wednesday, September 14, as Facilities Management & Planning (FM&P) conducts phase one of what may be a two-phase replacement of steam pipe lines serving 25 Buick Street and 855, 871, and 881 Commonwealth Avenue.
Construction will be done on the northeast end of the street, and work hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including weekends.
If the initial excavation shows that the steam pipe must be replaced, FM&P will move forward with the second phase of the project, which would close Buick Street to all traffic on September 15 and reopen it no later than September 29.
The parking and transportation plan is as follows:
During Phase 1, Boston University Police will assist in directing two-way traffic through the one-lane area of Buick Street affected by this work. Police will be on site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
During Phase 2, Buick Street will be closed to all traffic immediately north of the Buick Street lot (which will remain accessible to and from Commonwealth Avenue) and east of the Agganis Arena garage and lot (which will remain accessible via Harry Agganis Way only).
During both phases of this project, the BUS (BU Shuttle) will not use Harry Agganis Way or Buick Street; the Student Village II stop will be moved to Commonwealth Avenue and Harry Agganis Way.
