An emergency power outage affecting several East Campus businesses and residences will take place tomorrow, Saturday, July 18, between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. The outage, by utility company Eversource, is necessary to repair power grid infrastructure.
Some locations will lose power for the entire 12-hour span, while others will be affected only momentarily, says Lauren Alzate, Facilities Management & Planning communications specialist. She recommends that people in the buildings listed below save all work on their computers and shut down their machines at end of the day today to avoid losing material.
In an emergency, students or staff may call the Facilities Operations & Services Center at 617-353-2105.
Power will be cut to the following University addresses:
12-Hour Duration:
- Commonwealth Avenue, numbers 704, 708, 710, 712, 714, 722
- Cummington Mall, numbers 48, 68-100, 111
