ASB Volunteers: Tweet Your Experience
BU students share stories from around the country
Last Saturday, 306 student volunteers, 79 coordinators, and 38 chaperones boarded planes, vans, and buses for places like Antelope Island, Utah, Crossville, Tex., Missoula, Mont., and Staten Island, N.Y., where they are spending the week volunteering as part of the Community Service Center’s Alternative Spring Breaks (ASB) program. They’re building fences and trails, working with homeless youth and military veterans, assisting at food banks, and helping to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
If you are one of this year’s volunteers, BU Today would like to hear from you. Please send tweets and twitpics to hashtag #BUASB or #ASBstories and let us know how your trip is going. Comments will show up in the CoverItLive player above throughout the week.
Next week, BU Today will publish first-person stories from five of this year’s volunteers.
Alternative Spring Breaks, founded in 1987 and run by the Community Service Center, gives students an opportunity to learn about social issues and develop leadership skills.
