    Rich Barlow is a senior writer at BU Today and Bostonia magazine. Perhaps the only native of Trenton, N.J., who will volunteer his birthplace without police interrogation, he graduated from Dartmouth College, spent 20 years as a small-town newspaper reporter, and is a former Boston Globe religion columnist, book reviewer, and occasional op-ed contributor.   1. Great interview. Thank you. The political situation re sequestration really is a terrible threat to academic institutions. The sad part of that is how Republicans are actually getting what they want: in the words of Republican strategist Grover Norquist (hell of a name), “I’m not in favor of abolishing the government. I just want to shrink it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”
