There are 9 comments on Bedbugs 101: A Primer

  1. This is interesting only because my freshman year I had bedbugs in Warren Towers and it took me literally needing to catch a bug for them to believe me and admit that it was bed bugs and do something about it

  2. The two people I know who’ve had bedbugs off-campus say that catching a bug is the only way to get the landlord to call in for fumigation, so that experience seems par for the course.

  3. I got bedbugs in Warren freshman year and it took them a long time to believe me. I finally caught some on a sticky mouse trap. BU was helpful with the extermination, but it cost my roommate and me about $600 between all the mattress pads, rugs, etc we had to throw out, and all the drycleaning and laundry we had to do. Bed bugs were by far the most traumatizing experience of my college life, and I’ve known of a lot of people in Warren getting them.

  4. Bed bug extermination is extremely costly depending on the methods used, so it does make sense that they need confirmation that the problem is in fact bed bugs.

  5. Fill a couple of empty Windex bottles with 99% Rubbing alcohol and spray every inch of the room, clothing, furniture, etc. Repeat until bugs are gone. Then repeat every week to keep them away.

Also invest in a hand held hot water steamer that is strong enough to penetrate at least 6-8 inches of linen or mattress to kill the bed bugs. Works great for me and helps to control dust mites without using expensive and dangerous chemicals.

  6. Bedbugs are ever unwanted in households and commercial premises. Bed bugs will infest readily and if not controlled in enough time, will continue to wreck havoc reaching high level infestation which may be complex to eliminate completely….
Bedbugs! These insects invade homes and wreak havoc wherever they will intentionally attack. Effective bed bug control may seem impossible when it comes to a high level stubborn infestation, but there must be light at the end of the tunnel to eliminate these small, pesky pests.
Bed bugs are tricky bugs. When they get into a home or business, they can get into hard to reach locations, not just your beds. These insects can dwell in outlets, wall voids, electronics, behind baseboards and anywhere close to resting and sleeping human sites. They can also be deep inside upholstered furniture or under rugs unsparingly. The trick to beating these hitch hiking, tricky bugs is understanding their habits and habitats

  7. Bed bugs have reemerged recently as a serious and growing problem not only in some parts of the world but its worldwide. These insects have become the most challenging pest to control in urban environments. Residual insecticides are the most common methods used for bed bug control; however, insecticide resistance limits the efficacy of treatments

For those who think that bed bugs belong to developing countries are wrong. Bed bugs are on the rebound in developed countries breeding fast like sent curses from nowhere. From long time to now, bed bugs are known to be controlled with pesticides. But the unfolded development of pesticide resistance has led to a need for alternative control methods because of their increased surging to infest fast unstopped.
Bed bugs are the most annoying and the creepiest pest alive in a house. So, their extermination process will be done using some effective strategic approach

  8. BEDBUGS
Bed bugs are modern parasitic insects and are an ever increasing pest problem worldwide. Bed bugs are flat, oval shaped, and reddish in color. They feed on the blood of mammals and prefer human blood. Bed bugs are about ¼ of an inch in length, which is about the size of an apple seed. They are mainly nocturnal and feed on their unaware hosts while they are sleeping. Even though bed bugs are not known to transmit any diseases to humans, they certainly are more than a nuisance pest. Bed bug bites can cause some people to develop small red bumps or welts. However, for others they may not show any allergic reaction to the bites at all. One of the most common issues with bed bug infestations is that they can lead to significant sleeplessness, stress and embarrassment. They can also be quite detrimental to hotels and other commercial lodging facilities scaring away customers.
Bed bugs travel from place to place by hitchhiking on different hosts. Hitchhiking enables them to be able to cover large distances, which is made easier by the affordability of mass transit. They will generally gain access to your home on luggage, bags, furniture and clothing that has been exposed to an infestation. Bed bug problems are not contained to low budget motels or dirty homes. They are a problem for every income bracket and can infest all types of residential homes, apartment complexes, hotels and other commercial facilities.
