A Whale of an Exhibition
Museum of Science explores the world of gentle giants

We know—all your life, you’ve wanted to stand inside the heart of a blue whale. Who wouldn’t? Now is your chance, courtesy of the exhibition Whales/Tohora, at the Museum of Science through September 14.
In addition to the scale model of a whale heart, the exhibition includes two bus-sized sperm whale skeletons, a sound chamber replicating the communication signals of whales, a lab with technology for visitors to build a “virtual dolphin,” and information about the history of South Pacific whaling, along with adornments and weapons made from whale bones and teeth by New Zealanders. (New Zealand’s government and the Smithsonian Institution support the exhibition.)
Whales/Tohora runs through September 14 at the Museum of Science, 1 Science Park, Boston. Admission to the museum is $21 for adults, $18 for children ages 3 to 11, and $19 for people 60 and older. Regular summer hours through Labor Day are Saturdays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some days have special hours; information is available here or by calling 617-723-2500.
