Women’s Lacrosse Shoots for Perfection
Terriers host America East championship this weekend
After a win at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, on April 19, the top-seeded Terrier women’s lacrosse team (13-2, 6-0 America East) is looking to defend its America East title this weekend. Boston University hosts the conference semifinals on Friday, April 25, and the championship on Sunday, April 27. The Terriers have won the last three conference championships and enter the tournament with a perfect conference record this season.
On the field, the Terriers are led by cocaptains Lauren Morton (CAS’08) and Molly Collins (CAS’08), with help from leading scorer Sarah Dalton (CGS’07, CAS’09), who is among the nation’s leading scorers, with an average 3.77 goals per game. On the sidelines, head coach Liz Robertshaw is in her second season at the helm, after three years as BU’s top assistant coach. She has accumulated a 26-8 record over the past two seasons, and led the Terriers to an America East championship and an NCAA tournament appearance last year. She was named US Lacrosse Coach of the Week by the sport’s governing body on April 14. In the video above, Robertshaw discusses her expectations for the women’s lacrosse team.
The Terriers face the Great Danes of Albany in the first semifinal, on Friday at 1 p.m. at Nickerson Field. Tickets will be available at the gate on Friday and Sunday. All-session passes for adults are $15, and all-session tickets for children 14 and under and America East conference students with a valid ID are $4. Individual tickets are $8 for adults and $2 for children and America East students.
