Terrier Crew Teams Row in Head of the Charles
Results from world's largest regatta
The men’s and women’s crew teams competed in the 44th Head of the Charles regatta, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, last weekend, October 18 and 19. More than 7,500 athletes from around the world competed in 55 different races.
The BU men’s team sent two boats to the Championship 4+ and one to the Championship 8+ during the second day of the race.
In the Championship 4+, the Terriers placed 13th and 14th, respectively, out of 21 participants. Wijnand Schoemakers (ENG’11) stroked for the first boat, which finished with a time of 17:22.814. Ricardo Sinicio-Tessarotto (SMG’10) stroked the second boat, which finished in 17:23.553. In the Championship 8+, stroked by Nick Anderson (ENG’10), BU placed 12th out of 37, at 15:10.247.
The women’s rowing squad entered one boat in the Championship 4+ and two in the Championship 8+.
Stroked by Kayla O’Rourke (SAR’09), the first Championship 8+ boat finished the race in 16:59.587, to place 13th overall. The second boat, stroked by Lexie Somers (CAS’11), took 22nd out of 38, at 17:17.355. The Championship 4+, stroked by Angie Thrower (SAR’10), finished 18th out of 20, at 20:22.607.
