Stage Troupe presents Sam Shepard's play Buried Child
Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play Buried Child, which launched the playwright to national fame when it premiered off-Broadway in 1978, is being staged this weekend by Stage Troupe. A squalid Midwestern farm is the setting for this unsettling drama about a violent family suffering from a dark secret: years ago, a woman bore an unwanted baby, which her husband drowned and buried in a field behind the farmhouse.
Stage Troupe, BU’s performing arts group for undergraduates who are not studying theater, produces eight mainstage shows each year, as well as two one-act festivals and a 24-hour theater weekend.
Performances of Buried Child are Thursday, April 3, Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, at 8 p.m. in the Agganis Arena Black Box Theatre, 925 Commonwealth Ave. Admission is $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the George Sherman Union information desk on the second floor, or at the door.
