POW! Stage Troupe’s Anything Goes
Sing and eat at annual Dinner Theatre Spectacular
Join Stage Troupe, Boston University’s oldest extracurricular performing arts group, for its annual Dinner Theatre Spectacular, an evening of food, music, and drama. This year the group is performing the 1934 Broadway hit Anything Goes.
Featuring music and lyrics by Cole Porter, Anything Goes is the story of nine passengers aboard the S.S. American: a gangster on the run from a minister, an evangelist turned nightclub singer, four tap-dancing “Angels,” a society miss and her fiancé, an English gentleman, and a scheming ex-boyfriend determined to win back the heart of his beloved. Amid a series of comical mistaken identities, the passengers and crew sing and dance their way across the Atlantic.
Stage Troupe, BU’s performing arts group for undergraduates who are not studying theater, produces eight mainstage shows each year, as well as two one-act festivals and a 24-hour theater weekend.
Performances of Anything Goes are Friday, February 29, and Saturday, March 1, at the Sargent Activities Center Gym. Dinner begins at 7 p.m., followed by the performance at 8 p.m. A matinee takes place on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Evening performance tickets are $30; matinee tickets are $10. Vinny T’s of Boston is catering, and preshow entertainment features BU a cappella groups. An alumni reception at the BU Pub follows Saturday’s evening performance (over 21 only).
