Bound Stems Plays Tonight at the Middle East
Indie rockers’ second album just out

Chicago indie rockers Bound Stems will shake the Middle East tonight, July 21, during a performance to promote its second album, The Family Afloat.
Featured as Spin magazine’s “Artist of the Day” in 2005, Bound Stems got its big break two years ago after a nationwide summer tour. Writeups in the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly helped make the band’s first album, Appreciation Night, a success. According to the Chicago Reader, Bound Stems’ music “is smart, ambitious, and emotionally super-saturated, achieving post-rock’s complexity without its aridity or pretension.”
The Monday, July 21, show begins at 9 p.m. at the Middle East, 472 Massachusetts Ave., in Cambridge’s Central Square. Tickets are $8 in advance, $9 at the door, and may be purchased at the Middle East box office between 1 and 7 p.m. or online at Ticketmaster. For more information, call 617-864-3278.
