Bomb Scare Temporarily Shuts Mugar
300 students evacuated; building found clear
About 300 students were evacuated from Mugar Memorial Library shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, after a woman indicated to library staffers that two boxes she was carrying contained bombs. The woman, identified as Jennifer J. Douglas, 28, a former Boston University graduate student who is on a medical leave of absence, was arrested by Boston University Police and charged with "possession of a hoax device" and "making a false bomb threat."
BUPD Captain Robert Molloy said the boxes were X-rayed by the Boston Police Department’s bomb squad, and no explosive devices were found. The library was reopened after Boston University police swept the building with bomb-sniffing dogs and found it to be clear.
Molloy said the suspect would be arraigned this morning in Brighton District Court.
