Last January, a group of film and television students at the College of Communication signed on to create Res.Life — a new 30-minute sitcom for mtvU that explores life as a resident assistant in a college dorm — from start to finish. With guidance from Paul Schneider, a COM associate professor of film and television, the students cast, shot, and produced the pilot during the spring semester. Many remained on campus six weeks past semester’s end to complete the postproduction work.
The finished product premieres on Friday, October 12, at 7 p.m. in the Photonics Center, 8 St. Mary’s St. The Making of Res.Life, a short documentary about the process, runs in three parts this week on BU Today and again at Friday’s event. Check back on Friday for part three.
In the segment above, the script is finalized and the rehearsal process begins.
