CFA set design showcased at tonight’s 808 Gallery exhibition

Click to watch a slide show on the exhibit.

Tonight, Boston theater enthusiasts can get a behind-the-scenes look at what is really entailed in creating professional plays. The annual design and production exhibition, presented by the school of theatre at the College of Fine Arts, features the work of the student designers, stage managers, and technical directors who build a show’s set from the ground up. The exhibition ranges from rough sketches to constructed sets; the designers work on both student productions and professional plays put on by BU’s Huntington Theatre Company.

Roger Meeker, a CFA assistant professor and the school of theatre’s associate director of design and production, spoke to BU Today about the work that goes into the annual exhibition. Click the slide show above to hear him discuss featured designs.

The exhibition, free and open to the public, takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. today, May 10, at the 808 Gallery, 808 Commonwealth Ave.

Paul Heerlein can be reached at heerlein@bu.edu.
