Dave Merson’s efforts as an athletic trainer at a local high school won him the first place award for a student case study.

Merson (SAR’06) was honored at the 21st annual SEATA Athletic Training Workshop in Atlanta recently. He was one of four students who presented a case study on his junior year work as an athletic trainer at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School.

His report titled “Core Strengthening and Flexibility Training in a Rower Diagnosed with a Chronic Inflammatory Disorder,” focused on a specific crew athlete at the high school, with whom he worked to “improve functioning in the sport.” The case study also features research on the subject.

“It was an honor to present what I’ve done and receive an award for my intervention with this patient,” says Merson. “[The workshop] was also an opportunity to meet and network with other students I normally wouldn’t have met.”
