The number of former BU hockey players to have gone on to play in the Olympic Games reaches 26 with this month’s winter games — 25 for Team U.S.A. and one for Canada. They include (from left) Jim Craig (SED’79), Mike Eruzione (SED’77), Jack O’Callahan (CAS’79), and Dave Silk (CAS’80, MET’92, GSM’93), pictured here at a BU awards ceremony celebrating their contributions to the U.S. Olympic team’s historic defeat of Russia and subsequent gold medal in 1980. Representing BU at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, are former Terrier hockey players Rick DiPietro (CAS’01), Chris Drury (CAS’98), and Keith Tkachuk (CAS’96). Drury and Tkachuk have played in the Olympics previously, but it is the first time for DiPietro, bringing the total number of Terrier hockey players to compete in the Olympics to 26.
