Genetics & Molecular Profiling Core

The new Genetics & Molecular Profiling (GMP) Core is building on previous work of genetics and molecular characterization of BU ADRC participants and other cohorts that has led to numerous important discoveries and greatly increased our understanding of mechanisms and biological pathways leading to AD. The GMP serves as a centralized resource for the organization and analysis of genetic data within the ADRC and, affiliated projects by providing an infrastructure needed to coordinate molecular research efforts that will lead to a better understanding of genotype-phenotype relationships for dementia and related endophenotypes.

Activities

The Genetics & Molecular Profiling Core helps sponsor a range of activities, including the following:

    • Expand and provide additional infrastructure for a repository for genetic and ‘omics materials from blood and brain specimens
    • Generate genetic, genomic, transcriptomic, methylomic, and lipidomic data
    • Maintain an integrated Genetic and ‘omic Database
    • Provide study design and analytical support
