BU ADC Investigator, Dr. Michael Alosco was Awarded an Alzheimer’s Association Grant on October 24th, 2017
Dr. Michael Alosco, PhD, a BU ADC Investigator, along with Dr. Lin Alexander, PhD, who is the head investigator at the primary study site at Brigham and Woman Hospital, received a new Alzheimer’s Association Grant. Their study will use enhanced arterial spin labeling (eASL) and magnetic resonance (MR) two-dimensional J-resolved spectroscopy (2D-JPRESS) to test whether individuals at high risk for chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) exhibit patterns of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and glutamate (Glu) metabolism that are distinct from aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) dementia. This study will further examine whether CBF and Glu may be involved in the pathogenesis of CTE through testing their correlations with PET p-tau and clinical function.
