Fig. 16.2. A dark cell in the primary visual cortex of a 23 year old monkey. The cytoplasm contains a group of small spherical bodies as well as what appear to be autophagocytic vacuoles. There are no obvious clues as to what type of cell this was, but the very close proximity of the adjacent myelin sheaths suggests that it might have been an oligodendrocyte.
